Resource Centre

We run a resource centre for brain injury survivors to attend in person at Bourne End Community Centre.

The resource centre is a place where service users can come together to socialise and take part in therapeutic activities to aid their recovery.

Our aim is to give all clients the opportunity to improve their social, cognitive, coordination and living skills. This is done through activities and external therapists, with activities including arts and crafts, Zumba, music therapy, physio led classes as well as local trips. Whilst attending the resource centre, carers can be assured that their loved ones are happy and well cared for whilst they have the opportunity for some well earned respite.

Any many more!

Benefits of attending

At Headway South Bucks we strongly believe that with the right help and support, people with acquired brain injury can make progress and improvements in their recovery even years after their injury occurred. Our resource centre activities are focussed on helping individuals achieve their goals and improving their health and wellbeing on the way. By coming together clients can improve their social and cognitive skills with others who understand the challenges and changes that a brain injury can bring.

As well as providing support for brain injury survivors themselves, our resource centre also provides much deserved respite for carers.

What to expect

Whilst the activities we do each week varies a typical timetable for the day looks like:

10.30am: Service users arrive and start the day with tea and coffee.

11:00am: The day's activity starts which could be cooking, music therapy, a quiz, arts and crafts, or a team game such as Boccia.

12.30pm: Service users, volunteers and staff all enjoy lunch together.

1.15pm: Afternoon activities commence. This often involves small group board games such as Scrabble, chess, Rummikub or a seated Zumba class.

3.30pm: Service users are either collected or make their own way home.
